Ortitay continues to lie about Rep. White’s Record;

Misleads voters in Abortion Mailer

For Immediate Release:

October 30th, 2014 – In a mailer sent to voters in the the 46th District yesterday paid for by the PA Family Council, under the headline “Jesse White Stands with Planned Parenthood,” Rep. Jesse White was accused of voting “no” on Senate Bill 732 (2011). This is factually incorrect. Jesse White voted “yes” on the Health Care Facilities Act. This act, a result of Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s abortion-related crimes in Philadelphia, protects women by ensuring that women’s health care providers meet the same safety regulations as ambulatory surgical facilities.

“It is shameful for Jason Ortitay to attack my position on such a critical issue. Women’s health is an issue that I take very seriously, and to have my vote on this matter blatantly misrepresented is disrespectful to the voters.” said Rep. White.

This is not the first time the Jason Ortitay and his allies have lied about Rep. White’s record. He has approved ads claiming that Rep. White supports a 40% tax increase, citing the Allentown Morning Call, August 7th, 2014. Yet no article mentioning Rep White–or a 40% tax increase–can be found in the paper that day. In fact, Rep. White has never voted for an income tax increase and will continue to oppose tax increases. For Mr. Ortitay’s part, he has yet to answer calls for proof of this citation or a retraction of the ad.

“As if his trend of false citations and lying to voters weren’t enough, Jason still has to answer serious questions about whether or not he committed voter fraud as a result of a private criminal complaint filed with the Washington County District Attorney last week” said campaign manager Jacob Redfern. “Mr. Ortitay would rather distract voters with these blatant lies than answer these questions. We are confident these 11th-hour Scare Tactics from the Jason Ortitay campaign will not work with voters who know Rep. White’s record.”

“Whether it is holding fundraisers with natural gas companies mere days after he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette he wasn’t soliciting funds from the industry, or making up complete falsehoods about me, Jason Ortitay just can’t seem to tell the truth.” said Rep. White, “It’s disappointing that voters have to put up with all of this garbage, and I know they are fed up with it. They know me, and they know I am a fighter for our communities.”

“I’m calling on Jason Ortitay to retract this falsehood and apologize to voters for the false ad and the negative tone of the campaign,” White continued. “I have run a positive, issue centered campaign, and I would urge my opponent to do the same, not hide behind these attacks.”
